MPD Offers Halloween Information and Safety Tips

MARION, IN (October 27th, 2016): The Marion Police Department wants everyone to have a SAFE and FUN time during Halloween. Trick-or-Treat hours will be Monday, October 31st - between 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Here are a few safety tips to remember when Trick-or-Treating!

Safety Tips:

A. A parent or responsible adult should always accompany young children on their neighborhood rounds.
B. Obtain flashlights with fresh batteries for all children and their escorts.

Individuals with "Failure to Pay" Warrants May Avoid Jail Time under New Program

MARION, IN (October 26, 2016): In order to reduce the number "Failure to Pay" city warrants, the Marion Police Department in conjunction with the Marion City Probation Department and the Marion City Clerk's Office is starting a new program!

Individuals with "Failure to Pay" city warrant(s) may report to the Marion City Clerk's Office; located in the Municipal Building (301 South Branson Street), Second Floor, between the hours of 8:00 am to 3:00 pm (Monday thru Friday) and pay their fine(s) in full. Upon paying the fine(s) in full, paperwork will be completed and NO ARREST will be made.

Marion Police Sergeant Tom Sisson Retires after Nearly 37 Years of Service

MARION, IN: (July 14th, 2016) – A devoted member of the Marion Police Department will officially enter retirement Friday after nearly 37 years of dedicated service.

Dianna Newton Retires

MARION, IN: (January, 7th, 2016) – The City of Marion Police Department’s Communications Manager will retire after nearly 24 years of service. Dianna Newton, commonly revered as the “mom in the radio room,” has been with the Marion Police Department since 1992, serving as a dispatcher, and has been serving the community as Communications Manager since 2004.

A large crowd of police officers, firefighters, fellow colleagues, friends and family gathered yesterday at City Hall to wish her well.
